WatchCut is a YouTube channel that is gaining popularity through its original videos.
The series, ‘100 Years of Beauty’ presents changing ideas of beauty from around the world.
Their latest creation with over 100,000 views and just in time for St Patrick’s Day, is Ireland.
What is unique in their short is the attention paid to historical accuracy.
The first, and only image which is prior to the Irish War of Independence feature one, rather than two looks is 1910.
The war, which had taken place from 1919 to 1921 was brutal, and went on to form two separate entities: the Republic of Ireland, which sought independence from Britain, and Northern Ireland.
With the advent of World War Two, both countries coped differently with the changes...
The 1950s gave way to tentative endevours into fashion...
But the 1970s gave birth to The Troubles - which was a violent conflict that raged in Northern Ireland for three decades, surrounding its constitutional status.
The conflict was between the unionists who were mainly Protestant and wished to remain part of the United Kingdom, and the republicans, who were mostly Catholic and wished to reunite with the Republic of Ireland.
The video emphasised similarities, however, rather than differences.
